Hi!
This Woodland Mini-Mushroom crochet pattern is quick, simple, and full of charm. You can use it as cozy home decor, wear it as a necklace, turn it into a whimsical keychain, clip it onto your bag as a forest-inspired charm — or even hang it on your Christmas tree as a sweet handmade ornament. It’s perfect for using up leftover yarn scraps and makes a lovely little gift for kids, students, or anyone who loves magical, handmade things.
Inspiration
Part of the Forest Whispers collection, this tiny mushroom was born from memories of mossy trails, whispering leaves, and the quiet magic found deep in the woods. As a child, I imagined that under each mushroom cap lived a story — tiny forest folk sipping tea, gathering herbs, or curling up for a nap beneath the stars. This mini-mushroom captures that gentle wonder. Whether it becomes a necklace, keychain, or bag charm, it brings a piece of that enchanted woodland into your everyday world.

Yarn and supplies
For my mini mushrooms, I tried several combinations to achieve different textures and moods. Here are some of my favorites:
-
Glitter Lurex Yarn Lucky Ball for the cap + Lotus Yarns Silky Cashmere for the stalk — a magical mix of shimmer and softness.
-
Glitter Lurex Yarn Lucky Ball + Drops Safran – a beautiful blend of shimmer and structure for the cap, paired with Drops Alpaca for a soft, fuzzy stalk.
-
Gazzal Baby Cotton — used for both the cap and stalk; a great all-around option, especially for beginners.
You can use any fine (2) weight yarn — feel free to play around! Whether you're going for something sparkly, soft, or classic, the possibilities are endless. For the traditional red mushroom look, I used the colorway RED for the cap and Off-WHITE for the stalk.
To stuff your mushroom, you can use PolyFil, but if you don't have any on hand, scrap yarn is a great eco-friendly alternative. Those little leftover pieces that are too small for a project but too good to throw away? They're perfect for this mini mushroom — and you won't need much!

Assembly
To attach the crochet mushroom cap to the stalk, crochet through both the cap loops and only the front loop of the stalk. Use the working yarn from the cap to single crochet around both the cap and the stalk simultaneously. Crochet 23 single crochets, pause, and lightly stuff the cap (only for the cone-shaped cap). Then, continue working the last 10 single crochets to close. Fasten off and weave in any remaining ends.
